The sacraments are efficacious signs of grace, instituted by Christ and entrusted to the Church, by which divine life is dispensed to us. (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1131)
Students in our school are prepared to receive the sacraments appropriate to their age during their time at Ss. Peter & Paul School.
Baptism is the first step in being initiated into the life of the Church. Most students who attend Ss. Peter & Paul School are already baptized, but we gladly welcome students who are not. If a family is interested in having their student baptized, our Faith Formation Coordinator is happy to work with the family in the process.
The Sacrament of Reconciliation (commonly referred to as “Confession”) is the regular means that Jesus established for the forgiveness of our sins. Students celebrate this sacrament in 2nd Grade.
Confirmation is the sacrament in which the gifts of the Holy Spirit bestowed in Baptism are sealed into a person’s soul, thus animating them for full participation in the life of the Church. Students prepare for this sacrament in third grade along with First Communion.
The Church refers to the Eucharist as the “source and summit” of our faith. Our life as Catholic Christians should flow from the Eucharist and constantly call us back to the Eucharist. Students receive their First Communion in the same ceremony as Confirmation in the 3rd Grade.
